Vernon Downs Experience
NEW Gold Cup horse (harness) racing at Vernon Downs with Gold Cup Buffet in a heated, enclosed, reserved area of the Club House. Area will be reserved just for us with para-mutual betting assistance and front row seats for the evening. The Central New York PT Cruiser Owners Club will sponsor the 4th race (Romancing the Turning Stone 4) of the evening and all attendees are invited to the Winners Circle for the trophy presentation. Friday Activities:
Meguiar’s Clinic
NEW FREE detailing clinic and product demonstration by Jeremy Harding from Meguiar’s. Get hands on experience with Meguiar’s 2007 product line and learn the best way to keep your PT looking great.
Shop Hop
The Shop Hop will start at Noon and conclude at 3:00PM. Participants will be given driving instructions to local merchants and shops and will be encouraged to patronize the local economy and enjoy the countryside.
Registration & Reception
A reception and entrant registration will be held from 4:00PM to 8:00PM in the Meadow Room on the 2nd floor of the Towers Hotel. Upstate Chrysler-Jeep Dealers Association will provide pizza and non-alcoholic beverages.
Blackjack Demo
“Learn to play� The Turning Stone Casino will provide FREE instructions, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, on how to play Blackjack. There will a dealer set up, for show participants only, to give a real life gaming experience.
Neon / LED
8:30PM: Participants and spectators will gather on the roof of the parking garage for our signature Neon/LED light and special effects show. We will not parade through Oneida, this year. The show and the voting will all take place on the roof of the parking garage. Trophies (6) will be presented at the awards banquet on Saturday night. Participants voting will take place at 9:30PM.
Saturday Activities:
Show grounds open at 8:00AM. Show will run from 8:00 to 3:00. We will provide coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts, FREE, to all show entrants.
All PTs that are to be judged will be parked according to their class. This will make judging infinitely easier for all entrants. We regret any inconvenience this might cause to clubs that wish to park together, but it has become a necessity to give you a better quality judging process. Independent judging teams will judge 6 classes of PTs.
There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards in each of these 6 judged classes,
Original, Stock, Modified, Custom, Extreme, Pro Class,
PLUS: Neon/LED Display (6), Best Tailgate Display (inside the car) (3), Best Overall Theme or Display (outside of the car) (3), PLUS, “People’s Choice� award; Best Flames, Best Graphics, Best Paint, Best Engine, Best Interior, Club Participation, Longest Distance, Daimler-Chrysler Pick, Turning Stone’s Pick, Remote Control Stock Winner, Remote Control Modified Winner. We have expanded the awards to 41 for 2007, up from 34 for 2006 and 27 for the 2005 show.
The Turning Stone Resort will provide a lunch, at the show site, from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. This is a cash only service.
Voting will take place from Noon to 2:00PM. Raffle tickets and 50/50 tickets will be available from 8:00AM to 3:00PM. The raffle drawing will be held at the show site this year.
Remote Control Car Races
Two classes will be offered. Stock, out of the boxcars and Modified, anything goes cars. Each class will run on a bigger track. Only PT Cruiser bodied cars will be allowed to compete for awards. There will be one award for Stock remote control cars and another award for modified remote control cars.
Awards banquet
5:00PM the Oneida Room will open with a cash bar, cheese and crackers and our DJ, Steve White. The buffet dinner will start at 6:00PM sharp. Seating in not limited but if you want to sit with your group, please try to arrive before 6:00PM. The banquet is available to all entrants, guests and vendors at a cost of $28.00 per person, payable in advance. You may attend the awards ceremony without attending the banquet.
We had such a great response to our video awards presentation that we plan to do it again. This was a big hit last year and the 2007 version will be bigger and better.
Sunday Activities:
8:00 AM. Sunday’s activities will begin with a buffet breakfast in the Season’s Harvest Buffet.
NHRA Drag Races
9:30AM we will caravan to nearby Empire State Timing Association’s drag strip in
Cicero, NY for NHRA sanctioned drag racing. The entrance fee for those who wish to drag race is $20.00 per car. Spectator entrance is FREE for the day for those not racing. We will provide sandwiches, soda and chips for all. http://www.estadrags.com
Come and find out what your “baby� will REALLY do in the quarter mile! We had 40 PTs at the strip in 2006 with 20 cars participating in the drag races. We had a blast and really turned some heads both with participation and performance. Ask anyone that saw Jason Mulder’s burnout!! You can see a picture of it in the latest issue of Cruiser Quarterly. We are the only show on the East coast that is offering drag races as part of our show. This part is purely voluntary on the entrants’ part and has no reflection on show judging or car classification. Trophies will be awarded in non-turbo, stock turbo and modified classes. Note: PTs with Stage 1 turbo upgrades are considered modified.
Accommodations:
We have reserved a block of rooms at the Tower Hotel. The price is $155.00 per night. The Tower Hotel will serve, again, as the host hotel. This is a guaranteed rate until May 1, 2007. You can check out the “Tower� at http://turning-stone.com/lodging/
We do not have a block of rooms reserved at the “Inn at Turning Stone�. The regular rate is now $95.00 per night and they do not wish to offer a better price. Check out the “NEW HOTEL� listed farther down this page if you are looking for a better deal.
We have, again, negotiated an “early arrival special� for those that wish to arrive on Thursday. This is available in the “Tower � only at a rate of $115.00 for Thursday only. This might be the perfect time to avail you of the Resort’s Day Spa or one of the four PGA rated golf courses that are available. The $155.000 rate will be in effect for Friday night and Saturday night.
For those that wish to extend their weekend even longer, we have negotiated a "late departure special" This is available for the “Tower� only. The rate for Sunday night will be $115.00 for the Tower.

Please note, the price listed for the “Inn at Turning Stone� and the Tower is the same rate that we have had for the previous three years. While they might not sound like a bargain, very few hotels or motels that we have been to have held the same rate for four years. Case in point is The Long House Lodge in Watkins Glen or the Imperial 500 in Wildwood, NJ. |
Once the first block of rooms is sold there is no guarantee that the rate will not change. Make your reservations early to avoid missing out on what promises to be another great show. You must call 1-800-771-7711 to get the reduced rate; you cannot get this rate online.
Make sure that you identify yourself as being with the PT Cruiser show to secure the guaranteed rate.
The Tower, the Casino and the parking garage are all connected. The show site has doubled in size to accommodate an expected larger crowd and shares the parking lot with the Casino.
There are shuttle buses running from the show site to the Casino every 20 minutes. Once again we will have access to the 2,400 car enclosed garage in the event of inclement weather.
NEW HOTEL
We have also reserved a block of rooms at nearby Vernon Downs; this hotel is nearly new and is all suites. You can book a suite for $99.00 per night OR $109.00 for a Jacuzzi suite.
