NEW Sumax Cycle / SuperChrome Tour. http://sumax.com/home.htm The event will begin on Friday afternoon at 2:00PM with a guided tour of Sumax Cycle / SuperChrome. Company owners Kirk Van Scoten is teaming up with Paul Teutul Sr. of Orange County Choppers (American Chopper on the Discovery Channel) to produce high end powder coating and pioneer a new process that will be an alternative to chrome plating. We will caravan to his shop, take the tour and be back before 4:00PM. The tour is FREE and so is the Shop Hop but you must sign up, when you register, for them by May 8, 2006
A reception and entrant registration will be held from 4:00PM to 8:00PM in the Meadow Room on the 2nd floor of the Towers Hotel. Sam Dell Chrysler-Jeep http://www.prod-fivestardealers.com/samdell/ will provide pizza and non-alcoholic beverages until 8:00PM.
NEW “Learn to play” The Turning Stone Casino will provide FREE instructions, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, on how to play Blackjack, Poker, Roulette, etc. There will be dealers and tables set up, just for us, to give a real life gaming experience.
9:00PM will be the start of our signature neon/LED parade through the local towns, with a police escort. The LED/neon/special effects show will be held at the show site when we return. Participant voting will take place at 10:00PM.
Saturday Activities
8:00AM show grounds open. Show will run from 8:00 to 3:00. We will provide coffee and Krispy Kreme donuts, FREE, to all show entrants, starting at 8:00AM.
NEW All PTs that are to be judged will be parked according to their class. This will make judging infinitely easier for all entrants. We regret any inconvenience this might cause to clubs that wish to park together, but it has become a necessity to give you a better quality judging process.
The Turning Stone Resort will provide a lunch, at the show site, from 10:00AM to 1:00PM. This is a cash only service.
Voting will take place from Noon to 2:00PM. Raffle tickets, 50/50 tickets will be available from 8:00AM to 3:00PM. The raffle drawings will be held at the show site this year.
NEW, we have added remote controlled car races. Two classes will be offered. Stock (out of the box) and Modified (anything goes). Each class will run on a separate track. Only PT Cruiser bodied cars will be allowed to compete for awards. There will be one award for the winner of each class.
5:00PM the Cypress Room will open with a cash bar and our DJ, Steve White. The barbeque buffet will be served at 6:00PM. The banquet is available to all entrants, guests and vendors at a cost of $28.00 per person, payable in advance. You may attend the awards ceremony without attending the banquet.
There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards in each of these 13 spectator judged classes, Original, Stock, Modified, Custom, Extreme, Pro Class, Neon/LED, Tailgate Display. PLUS, “Best of Show” awards; Best Flames/Graphics, Best paint, Best engine, Best interior, Club Participation, Longest Distance, Sam Dell’s Pick, Turning Stone’s Pick, Remote Control Stock Winner, Remote Control Modified Winner. We have expanded the awards to 34 for 2006, up from 27 for the 2005 show.
NEW this year will be a PT Cruiser fashion show/charity auction sponsored by PT Boutique. http://ptboutique.easystorecreator.com/. PT Cruiser owners and guests will model the latest in “PT” fashions. All items will be up for auction after the fashion show, with the proceed going to the Children’s Hospital at University Hospital.
Sunday Activities
8:00 AM. Sunday’s activities will begin with a buffet breakfast in the Season’s Harvest Buffet.
10:00AM we will caravan to nearby Empire State Timing Association http://www.estadrags.com/ drag strip for NHRA sanctioned drag racing. The entrance fee for those who wish to drag race is $20.00 per person. Spectator entrance is FREE for the day for those not racing. We will provide sandwiches, soda and chips for all, for a modest price. (2005 it cost each one $4.00)
Come and find out what your “baby” will REALLY do in the quarter mile! We had 36 PTs at the strip in 2005 with 18 cars participating in the drag races. We had a blast and really turned some heads both with participation and performance. Ask anyone that saw Jason Mulder’s burnout!! You can see a picture of it in the latest issue of Cruiser Quarterly. We are the only show on the East coast that is offering drag races as part of our show. This part is purely voluntary on the entrants’ part and has no reflection on show judging or car classification. Trophies will be awarded in non-turbo, stock turbo and modified classes. Note: PTs with Stage 1 turbo upgrades are considered modified.
Accommodations:
We have reserved a block of rooms at the Resort. Prices range from $95.00 per night at the “Inn at Turning Stone” which is 1.5 miles from the show site to $155.00 per night at the New “Towers” hotel. The Tower Hotel will serve, again, as the host hotel. This is a guaranteed rate until May 8, 2006. You can check out the “Inn” and the “Tower” at http://turning-stone.com/lodging/
NEW We have negotiated an “early arrival special” for those that wish to arrive on Thursday. This is available in the “Tower only” a rate of $105.00 for Thursday only. This might be the perfect time to avail yourselves of the Resort’s Day Spa or one of the four PGA rated golf courses that are available. The $155.000 rate will be in effect for Friday and Saturday.
NEW For those that wish to extend their weekend even longer, we have negotiated a "late departure special" This is available for the Tower or the "Inn". The rate for Sunday night will be $105.00 for the Tower and $79.00 for the Inn.
Please note, the price listed for the “Inn at Turning Stone” and the Tower is the same rate that we have had for the previous two years. While they might not sound like a bargain, very few hotels or motels that we have been to have held the same rate for three years. Case in point is the Quality Inn in Niagara Falls, The Long House Lodge in Watkins Glen or the Imperial 500 in Wildwood, NJ.
Once the first block of rooms is sold there is no guarantee that the rate will not change. Make your reservations early to avoid missing out on what promises to be another great show. You must call 1-800-771-7711 to get the reduced rate; you cannot get this rate online.
Make sure that you identify yourself as being with the PT Cruiser show to secure the guaranteed rate.
The Towers, the Casino and the parking garage are all connected. The show site has doubled in size to accommodate an expected larger crowd and shares the parking lot with the Casino.
There are shuttle buses running from the show site to the Casino every 20 minutes. Once again we will have access to the 2,400 car enclosed garage in the event of inclement weather.
Nearby towns of Oneida, NY and Canastota, NY have a variety of smaller and less expensive motels. You must book them yourself. We do not have any blocks of rooms reserved at other motels or hotels. Make your reservations early; you can always cancel, if you need to. There are other events going on at the same time, once our blocked rooms are gone, you will have to fend for yourself.
Call for room reservations 1-800-771-7711.
